A special assembly was organised by the students of Guru Teg Bahadur Public School, Durgapur on the occasion of Lord Mahavira’s birthday on 20th April 2016. A speech was given by Kajri Taran, a student of class VII A which focused on the early life and teachings of Mahavira. His teachings, broadly threw light on the importance of Jainism as a religion. GTBPS, Durgapur solemnly observed a special assembly in the remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi the epitome of peace and non- violence on the eve of his birthday. According to the theme our school conducted activities to sensitize the students for the preservation of the Ozone Layer. It was organized by the social science department for classes VI, VII & VIII. The students participated in the rally, slogan writing and made posters. Our school organized an exhibition .The parents were invited to see the exhibition. Talking about the significance of Teachers' Day, PM Narendra Modi remembered Dr Radhakrishnan and said "serving the nation does not only mean doing grand things; doing small things is a big service to the nation". Priya Mandal, a Science student of Class XII has been selected for writing an essay on ‘Woman Scientist I Admire the Most’ by CBSE Expression Series.
